BASQUE WHALING SHIP

DESCRIPTION

The Basque Whaling Ship was a recreation of an actual Spanish Fishing vessel that was discovered off the coast
of Newfoundland in Red Bay. This exhibit was fabricated using archeological blue prints of approximately 2400
individual components, handcrafted to create the ship that you see. Each section was carved, sandblasted, sculpted to form specific details and then hand stained to create the weathered look of an ancient archeological discovery. The ship was build to quarter scale producing a final display of 36 feet in length.
