A domain manager is a user with special
privilege to manage users in one or more domains. The system manager is the
only person capable of creating a domain manager.
To create a domain admin you (the system manager) go to the domains page, pick
the domain you want to add a manager to or create a new domain. One of the settings
for the domain is the manager's username, this is where you enter the user's
full name including @domain (it is safe to leave off the @domain only if the
user who is the new manager belongs to the domain they are becoming the manager
of). This manager setting is a comma separated list of usernames.
The user page is where you create
new users, enter usernames and lookup the details on users. With existing users
you can modify the user's data, forwarding information of delete them.
To create a new user, simply enter
a username (without @domain), select the domain from the drop down box, then
click "create"
To lookup a user, simply enter the
user's name (without @domain) and select the domain from the drop down box,
then click "lookup"
After loading the user's info you can modify the data fields, and/or enter a
new password. Clicking "save" will update the user data with those changes.
After loading the user's info, you
can modify a user's forwarding information by clicking the "forwarding" button.
This button will load a new page, on which you will see a text field called
"forward to". This is where you enter addresses to forward incoming mail to
(comma separated list).
Below that, you will see a checkbox called "copy to self". This box forces SurgeMail
to deliver a copy of the Email to this account regardless of all other forwarding
rules.
Lastly, there are auto-response message settings. If you enable an auto-response
message, every message this account receives will be automatically responded
to with the message specified here.
If the message is auto-responded to, it will not be delivered locally (unless
"copy to self" is checked).
After loading the user's info, you
have the option of deleting the user, simply click the "delete" button and it
is done. To delete multiple users see below.
If you are unsure what the user's
name is, or simply want to see a list of user accounts, you click the "Search
Now" button.
This button will load a new page, on which you will see a table containing search
criteria and, below that, the accounts found to match that criteria. Simply
enter search criteria and click "refresh" to get a listing of accounts.
If there are more hits than specified by your criteria, "next" and/or "prev"
buttons appear and let you cycle through all the hits.
To delete several accounts at once you may select those accounts via the checkbox
next to their name and click the "delete" button. This will delete all the selected
accounts on the page showing.
